Blogger vs. Wordpress

There are a lot of free blog tools.

The EASIEST one to use is Google's tool...Blogger
https://www.blogger.com/start

I get lots of results when I search on "easy customize header" for blogger.http://testing-blogger-beta.blogspot.com/2006/09/adding-graphic-to-your-blog-header.html

here is an example of a "blogger" blog with a headerhttp://guide-to-malaysia.blogspot.com/search/label/budget%20airline -- it looks nice.

I was recommending Wordpress to a company that was looking to create a blog (wordpress.org). Wordpress is popular with the geeks because it is very flexible and even has some CMS functionality. But the guy I recommended it to doesn't know any HTML, and when I tried to find him some "easy" tutorials on Wordpress, they are hard to find.

So I'd stick with blogger : )

I used Moveable Type for my company blogs, but I had to work with a graphics designer and developer to create the customized template, otherwise you'll just be working with a generic template.

If you want to use Wordpress, here is a company that builds and hosts custom Wordpress Templates

I found this site that offers free video tutorials on Wordpress

Apple Store is Down...

I am sure I am not the only one trying to log on for the post-Thanksgiving sale. AND I stayed up til 3 AM for this. I am such a sucker! I've now been trying to get in to the store for almost a half hour. And I'm on hold for the telesales.

They probably didn't even reduce the stuff I want.

grr.

Learning here in Limbo...

As I wait for an opportunity to implement all the cool technologies I've been learning about, I still read "Simply Headlines" -- which is billed as "The newspaper for the extremely busy." If nothing else, their "Random Fact of the Day" generally amusing. Today's is: "A company in Taiwan makes dinnerware out of wheat, so you can eat your plate. "

The BEST marketing newsletter I get is iMedia Connection. When I get the chance to implement some real strategies, I'll be digging through their archives in a big way.

I unsubscribed from 'MarketingProfs' last month when they published an article entitled "What is Digg?" C'mon now...maybe *they* already knew what Digg was -- but that means their target audience is still clueless, and I don't want to be affiliated with the dummies : )

I also admire two awesome ladies I work with who are doing great stuff in the blogosphere. Design guru Reshma Kumar moderates events for Webguild and her blog posts for them are excellent! I am begging her to "franchise" Webguild out here in NOVA where the tumbleweed blows. Also, Karen Henke (writer extraordinaire) has built up her own "Grant Wrangler" site and is starting to make a name for herself with her "Web 2.0 for Schools" knowledge.

Wikipedia getting judgemental ; )

I wanted to find out how I can order the posters I see at Moe's ("If you don't have fun saying 'guacamole,' you're not saying it right.) So, I did a google on "Al Greene Moe's" and Wikipedia was the first hit.
So, Wikipedia has this comment at the top "This article or section is written like an advertisement." So like, how do they know it's an ad?

I found some interesting stuff online tonight; First I found this animated avatar that welcomes users to your Web site (I guess that's what it is for). I got hooked when the avatar lady said "type whatever you want and I will say it." So I typed "hello" (crazy huh?) and she goes "hello. I can work for you 24/7. I don't take lunch breaks." So then I typed "hello snookums" but she had trouble with pronouncing "snookums." So then I typed...well never mind, try it yourself, it's a trip. http://www.sitepal.com/

I also read about a news aggregator called Newshutch that supposedly has an awesome UI. I am determined to start subscribing to feeds. I got inspired when I opened our "Weblog News" widget and started reading the articles. (Miss you Billy!)

So when I got to Newshutch I started reading their blog and it's pretty funny. It's the guy who owns/designs/programs the site, and he is mostly complaining about his hosting company and how they hosed his DNS entry.

Oh, and the last article I saw in the Weblogs widget -- I want my boss to see this one. It's about how the adoption rate for podcasts is lower than expected. http://www.mytelus.com/ncp_news/article.en.do?pn=tech&articleID=2590652

Oh my God, i just keep seeing cool stuff. well, I can't email myself every single article so...
SimplyHeadlines offers entirely customizable e-mail news service.

I wonder how I can aggregate the interesting articles I want to show other people? Is this the only way?
